Podisus maculiventris
Controls:
Podisus maculiventris, also known as the spined soldier bug, is a beneficial insect known to prey on over 100 species of pests. Prime targets are looper, immature insects, with reported prey including the larvae of the Mexican bean beetle, European corn borer, diamondback moth, corn earworm, beet armyworm, fall armyworm, cabbage looper, imported cabbageworm, Colorado potato beetle, velvet bean caterpillar, and flea beetles. Generalist predatory stinkbug, primarily used for caterpillar/looper control.
Application Rate:
• Preventative Application Rates: Use 1-2 predators per square foot.
• Moderate Infestation: Dispense eggs evenly over plant leaves and as close to the pest problem as possible.
• Heavy Infestation: Increase application rate by doubling the number of predators used per square foot.
How-To Use For Best Results:
Do NOT release during the sunny part of the day, but rather wait until evening or early morning. Eggs will hatch shortly after release and young nymphs will move quickly from plant to plant in search of food.
Note: P. maculiventris adults are highly mobile, and will spread rapidly throughout the release area by walking and flying.
Features & Benefits:
• Targets a wide variety of pests, making it a versatile solution for many garden problems.
• Each female lays several hundred eggs, maximizing the potential for pest control.
• The bugs are highly mobile, ensuring broad coverage of your garden or field.
• The species is sold for the control of the Mexican bean beetle and has been shown to reduce infestations of the Colorado potato beetle by up to 50% in some cases

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Returns
Because we ship live insects and want them to arrive to you as freshly as possible, we only ship Monday through Wednesday. This means your shipment will arrive Tuesday through Thursday, possibly Friday if there are any unforeseen delays such as bad weather. Since FedEx does not ship over the weekend, we do not want insects to sit in a fulfillment center where they have a greater chance of not arriving to your garden fresh-as-can-be.
